Iskra Velitchkova (b. 1988) is a computational artist. She focuses her work on generative art but she is interested and inspired by every kind of interaction between humans and machines both in its digital and physical expression. With a large background in Data Visualization, Velitchkova held for the last years roles of strategy in different scientific teams. At some point Velitchkova realized that in order to sink in the role of technology in society and in ourselves, questions are more interesting than answers. She finds that only art can allow her to explore this matter with the freedom she wants, and she quits her job. Iskra understands technology as new sources of information and she roots her work on exploring it through generative systems. She is fascinated by the way a whole new imaginary of worlds emerges from the code and how those new realms can tell us stories about ourselves. She has exhibited worldwide, including Art Basel Miami, Basel and HK, two Feral File shows curated by Casey Reas (2021) and Jason Bailey (2022), Kate Vass, Unit London Gallery, Tonic and Bright Moments, among others.
