Daniel Calderon Arenas (DCA), (b.1983) is a Houston-based generative artist working in JavaScript. His work explores the elements of chance and randomness through the form of an algorithmic edition, where subsequent images produced by a set of rules contain varietal changes that make each output unique and original. DCA’s themes touch on elements of nature, place, and figuration, often as graphical representations constructed from basic geometric primitives such as line and shape. DCA’s editions utilize blockchain technology to both seed the randomness that determines the final composition of the image and also to tokenize the artwork. His first edition launched on the Art Blocks platform in November 2020. DCA has an MFA in sculpture from the University of Houston.
